The New (Augmented) Reality of Online + Real-Time Information

QR Codes are SO aughts. Augmented reality is where it’s at now, from Blaise Agüera y Arcas’ Bing Maps for Microsoft

…to Boffswana‘s Augmented Reality: Releas3D animation…

…to MIT Media Lab‘s Pattie Maes and Pranav Mistry‘s “Sixth Sense”…

…to Zugara‘s ZugSTAR commercial applications…

…to James Alliban‘s “AR Business Card“:

As more people adopt smartphones with cameras and live-stream capabilities, expect augmented reality (AR) to become the new way we access information. We could simply point the camera and let the magic of the Interwebs tell us more about what we’re looking at, rather than guess and search for possible keywords that still may not provide us with the information we seek. AR applications and adoption would seriously disrupt how we search for and access information online: In Brave New Augmented Reality Universe, who’ll need to “Google it” when “it” can directly send us all the information we need?
