Aesop Fables for the 21st Century

Growing up, I loved reading Aesop’s fables. I still do. Not only are they entertaining short stories, but they also provide food for thought that I could chew on for the rest of my life. From “sour grapes” to “spilled milk,” I’m still digesting.

Here is one modern fable that has circulated the Internet and email threads for a while. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did…

“Full Disclosure”

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower, when the doorbell rings.

The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs.
When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbor.

Before she can say a word, Bob says, “I’ll give you $800 to drop that towel.”

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob. Bob gives her a good look up and down, then hands her $800 and leaves.

The woman wraps herself back up in the towel and returns upstairs.

When she gets to the bedroom, her husband asks, “Who was that?”

“It was Bob from next door,” she replies.

“Great!” the husband exclaims. “Did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?”

Moral:

Always keep in mind the importance of full disclosure: If you share critical information up front with your partner(s), you could help prevent avoidable exposure.
