Social Media Demographics : Who Is Using Which Sites?

Whether for business, social, or socially dysfunctional reasons, if you’re going to get in the social media game, you should get to know the playing field. You’re more likely to have a positive experience (and get positive results) if you know what tools are available and who else is on your team…or who isn’t.

In this great infographic from Flowtown, you can get a general feel of the demographics and culture of several popular social networks. For instance, if you want to meet more people with higher levels of education and income, you may want to spend more time on LinkedIn. If you want to meet more young guys, try hanging out on Digg and StumbleUpon. (Beware of these generalizations, though: Like any demographic category, there always outliers and exceptions.)
