State of the Internet 2011 : Dynamic Infographic from Online Schools

I’m addicted to this dynamic interactive infographic of the “State of the Internet 2011″ – it shows you in real-time the amount of activity happening online, from the number of new internet users to new websites published, to YouTube videos uploaded, to the amount of dollars spent on e-commerce, and on and on. Creator Online Schools writes:

Enabling our passion, is the growth and omnipresence of the Internet, and we wanted to pay tribute with an infographic that really shows how its changing our lives.

…While the Internet has an amazing reach, it still has room to grow. While 71% of the people in developed countries are online, only 21% of those in developing countries have access so far. In spite of such regional disparities, the Internet continues to become faster and more affordable overall. As the number of users increases, so does the sheer amount of money, information and opinions exchanged online. When it comes to the Internet’s future, most specialists are optimistic: 64% of them believe the flow of information online will remain mostly free rather than falling under the control of powerful institutions and 81% believe the Internet will enhance human intelligence.
